ESMA, and especially its “Casino de Oficiales”, functioned during Argentina’s last military dictatorship as a massive center for illegal detention, torture and extermination. Thousands of people passed through it, many of whom disappeared. Others suffered extreme forms of violence, including torture with electricity and sexual torture.
