Ana Giménez Calpe is a professor of German literature in the Department of English and German Philology at the University of Valencia. Previously she has worked at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in the US and at the University of Granada. Her lines of research centre on the dramatic work of Elfriede Jelinek, intercultural literature, gender studies and the analysis of the relation between violence and power in literature. On these subjects, she has published various articles and book chapters, as well as the monograph Von Prinzessinnen zu Königinnen. Performative (Ohn)macht in „Der Tod und das Mädchen III (Rosamunde)“ und „Ulrike Maria Stuart“ von Elfriede Jelinek (Peter Lang, 2019).
Currently she is studying German narrative written after 1990 on perpetrators and collaborators of the Holocaust. Her studies address those works based on what is known as secondary memory or postmemory, in which the factual is linked to fiction. She is also the secretary of the journal Quaderns de Filologia.
