ANACLETO FERRER

Anacleto Ferrer is a Professor of Aesthetics and Philosophy of Art in the Philosophy Department of the University of Valencia. Author, coauthor, and editor of more than twenty books on philosophy, literature, arte and cinema, he has published numerous scientific articles in both national and international journals and has translated into Spanish and Catalan works by Hölderlin, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Bertolt Brecht, Georg Grosz, Moholy-Nagy, Raoul Hasumann, Erich Fried, Hannah Arendt, and Ernst Toller, among others. For more than a decade he has been a member of the Advisory Board of the German Hölderlin-Gesellschaft. He is the Coordinator of LAOCOONTE. Revista de Estética y Teoría de las Artes and director of the philosophical essay collection Novatores, from the Institució Alfons el Magnànim-Centre Valencià d’Estudis I d’Investigació, y Estètica Crítica, by Publicacions de la Universitat de València. His current lines of research center on Critical Theory (with special attention to Walter Benjamin and Siegfried Kracauer) and on the study of representations of perpetrators of mass political violence. On this last topic, he has coordinated, along with Vicente Sánchez-Biosca, the volume El infierno de los perpetradores. Imágenes, relatos y conceptos (Bellaterra, 2019) and published the book Facticidad y ficcion. Ensayo sobre secuencias fotográficas de perpetración de la Shoah (Shangrila, 2020).
