José María de Luelmo Jareño

José María de Luelmo Jareño is a tenured professor at the Universitat Politècnica de València, where he teaches theory and practice of contemporary imagery. Holding a PhD in Fine Arts, he is currently researching the aesthetics of private visual records in contexts of violence as part of his PhD in Philosophy at the Universitat de València. This research has led him to work as a visiting researcher at the Technische Universität in Berlin and as a funded researcher at various institutions. His studies on imagery have branched out in multiple directions, finding a place in academic journals in Spain, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, and Brazil, as well as in cultural publications such as Archipiélago, Pasajes, Lápiz, and Lars. In addition to contributing to various collective works, he has authored short monographs on Carl Einstein and Walter Benjamin. For years, he has complemented his research with a photographic project focused on devastated environments and spaces of violence in Europe and the Americas, resulting in around twenty solo exhibitions and over a hundred group exhibitions in galleries and art centers across Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Italy.
