Lurdes Valls Crespo obtained her Bachelor’s in Philosophy and Master’s in Contemporary Philosophical Thought from the University of Valencia. Currently she is developing her doctoral dissertation within the research project “Contemporary Representations of Perpetrators of Mass Violence: Concepts, Narrative and Images” (HAR2017-83519-P), under the direction of Vicente Sánchez-Biosca and Anacleto Ferrer Mas, thanks to a FPU grant (Formación del Profesorado Universitario) and within the PhD program Contemporary Philosophical Thought at the University of Valencia. She has completed a research stay at Utrecht University in collaboration with Susanne Knittel. Her field of study is deals with aesthetics, theory of photography and visual culture in connection with Perpetrator Studies. The object of her current research centres on the representation of the perpetrator –and the violence that imprints on the social body- in audio-visual discourses of counterculture during the Late Francoism period and the Spanish Transition (1960s-1970s), as well as the migration and shift in meaning of the images that are at the centre of said discourses.
